The VoriHaus Butter Rug takes the look of a stick of butter in its paper wrapper and prints it across a small floor rug, on an ivory ground with the wrapper markings picked out in red or in blue. It is a novelty piece and it is meant to be the thing that is noticed in the room. The pile is plush and densely packed, so the print stays sharp rather than blurring between the fibers, and the surface is treated to hold its color and to shed less as it is walked over.

Two sizes are offered. The small at 23.6 by 15.7 inches is a doormat-sized piece for inside a door, in front of a sink or at the foot of a bed. The medium at 47.2 by 19.7 inches is a runner, long enough for a galley kitchen, a narrow hallway or the length of a counter. The shape follows the butter stick, so the long proportion is part of the design rather than an accident of sizing.

No backing is published for this rug, so treat it as an unbacked floor piece: put a rug pad under it on a smooth floor, and keep it off wet tile where it would slide. No fiber content and no wash instruction are published either, so vacuum it gently and spot clean rather than putting it through a machine.
